Teenager Leads the Way

In the communist nation of Cuba, the national church continues to grow and thrive. The intense poverty that the Cuban people endure has become a surprising catalyst for many to come to know Jesus. Though they have very little, their joy is great, and the Good News spreads quickly among those desperate for the healing power of a loving God.

In one village marked by deep poverty but home to a flourishing church of passionate believers, a teenage boy named Caleb attended a service by himself. When the pastor offered the invitation at the end of the message, Caleb stood to accept Christ. He was not originally from the area and had no family in the village, but the joy of his salvation held him there. For the next 15 days, he stayed with the pastor, learning everything he could about Jesus and God’s plan of salvation. For the first time in his life, Caleb had found true happiness — something he had been longing for.

One day, the pastor taught about the Gospel’s call to be shared with friends and loved ones. He urged the congregation to speak of God’s unending faithfulness with their families as soon as possible. Immediately after hearing this, Caleb left the church. Nobody saw him again for six months.

Then, one morning, Caleb reappeared — smiling, worshipping, and full of life. After the service, the pastor asked him where he had been. Caleb replied, I went back home to tell my family about Jesus. I live very far from here, but I knew I had to explain what happened to me — just like you said.”

He continued, After I shared the Gospel, many people believed and accepted Christ. Now there are 60 believers in my village. I told them everything I learned… but they want to know more.” Caleb asked the pastor to send someone who could teach his new church more about Christ.

In Acts 20:24, Paul declares:

But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself,
so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received
from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the Gospel of the grace of God.”

There is nothing more important than sharing the Gospel so that others may experience the grace God offers to all who are willing to receive it. Caleb’s simple obedience and bold testimony yielded remarkable fruit for the Kingdom of God — proof that the Gospel still transforms entire communities through the faithfulness of one willing heart.
