God Works Through Children

The first time Sarah shared the Gospel story, 100 children accepted Christ as their Savior.

In Vietnam, there was a woman named Mary. She was sick and unable to read well. It was during a particularly low point in her life, that she remembered the teaching she once heard about God. In her desperation, Mary began to copy down scriptures from the Bible and study them. The words penetrated to her very soul and because her faith was great, God healed her sickness. This transformation had an effect on Mary’s mother as well, who was not a believer and also extremely sick. Her body was swollen with a growing tumor. Doctors claimed they could do nothing about her illness. Mary’s mother was tortured by demons and lived a miserable life, but when she saw that her daughter was no longer sick, she knew God could do the same for her. She accepted Christ and was transformed. The Lord was faithful to heal her, just as He had done for Mary. A few years later, Mary’s daughter, Sarah, also a faithful servant of God, was studying to become a teacher. She had a passion for Christ. She wanted to share the love of God with children so they too could experience His power and be saved. The first time Sarah shared the Gospel story, 100 children accepted Christ as their Savior. They were excited about all that they had learned. Immediately, the children began sharing Jesus with their friends. It didn’t take long for the number of young students visiting Mary and her daughter to multiply and, soon their small house was overflowing. Sarah knew she had to continue spreading the Good News. She bought the house next door that could accommodate her growing flock. Her influence in the neighborhood drew the attention of the local police though. They came and arrested her for teaching the children about Jesus. They threatened that she could no longer follow her dream of becoming a teacher if she continued. After praying about the problem with her mother, God provided a solution. Mary took Sarah to another province where she was able to take her exams and become a certified teacher. The trouble did not end there though. The police came and began persecuting the children. They took away their Bibles, burned them in fact, and threatened children with jail time if they continued to learn about Jesus. Instead of being afraid, they just went to Sarah and asked her to find a safer place for them to study the Bible. These young followers of God understood what was most important in their lives. They did not hesitate in their pursuit after the Lord.

It says in 1 Timothy 4:12: Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct love faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.

Sarah’s students hungered for more of Jesus and let nothing get in their way of His transforming power in their lives. They might have been young, but they let no one look down upon their youth.
