Today, March 28, 2025, a powerful 7.7‑magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar near Mandalay at approximately 12:50 PM local time, followed by a 6.4‑magnitude aftershock. The devastation has extended across the region, affecting thousands in Myanmar and neighbouring Thailand, particularly affecting Bangkok and reaching northward up to Chiang Rai. Entire communities have been devastated, homes and buildings have collapsed, and many lives have been lost.
The Myanmar government has declared a state of emergency in six regions and is urgently appealing for international aid. Survivors are in desperate need of food, water, shelter, and medical assistance.
Empower Ministries has a wide network of evangelically based, national church pastors, leaders and church congregations in both countries that have sent out an urgent plea for assistance. Be assured that all of our international partners not only provide emergency supplies such as emergency food, clean water, temporary shelter, clothing, and first-aid kits, but they are also ready and able to share the hope contained in the Gospel of Jesus with all those who have suffered loss.
All supplies will be sourced locally and delivered immediately into the hands of those in need.
