Young Boy Saves His Family

Conditions in Serbia have always been difficult for the Romani people, but during this time of global unrest caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation has become devastatingly worse. The poverty-stricken Gypsy population in Serbia found themselves without employment and consequently, had no means to purchase food and other necessities of life. Believers from a church planting network in Leskovac, Serbia, have been ministering to the needs of the Romani people by providing bags of food to see them through their worst days. The team was out on the streets when they came across a young boy wandering about with bare feet and tattered clothing. They approached him warmly, introduced themselves, and told him about the Gospel and why they wanted to help him. They then asked if they could purchase him some shoes. The boy was shocked that strangers would be so kind, but rather than accept their offer, he asked them if they could find some food for his family instead. He then took them back to his home, an old storage container that housed several more children. The team was touched that the boy didn’t think of himself but only had concern for his struggling family and they gladly handed out food supplies and a new pair of shoes.

The Bible provides believers with clear instructions for the poor and needy in the world. In Acts 20:35, we read: In everything that I showed you, that by working hard in this manner, you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

The faithful workers in Serbia are surrounded by desperate people who feel forgotten and abandoned by the world. The Christians are dedicated to showing them that God sees them and has a plan and a purpose for their lives.

He then took them back to his home, an old storage container that housed several more children.
